Galvanised Bokero: the solution for bike parking problemsNovember 2011 – Bikes with front racks fitted out with a basket or crate for shopping are a hot trend. These bikes are much wider than standard bikes and so they don't fit in the standard bike stands. Bokero is a new adjustable bike suspension system that can accommodate all bikes. It is hot-dip galvanised by Verzinkerij Heerhugowaard so Bokero is an enduring solution for bike parking problems. The new suspension system was developed by Kees Klijbroek, a caretaker at the Bonhoeffer College in Castricum, and Ron Tambach, the managing director of steel construction company Tambach from Egmond-Binnen. During his working day, Kees has to deal with large groups of students who need to park their bikes properly. The latest trends in the bike market means that some bikes don't fit in the standard bike stands. Kees thought that it was time to come up with an answer for these bikes, too. There was no good handlebar suspension system on the market, so he came up with his own design. He took it to Ron Tambach, who developed the idea further and took it into production. The design is a universal one, and it can accommodate almost most normal bike types. The system provides stable parking, the bikes won't fall over in windy conditions, and the wheel buckling caused by the standard systems is a thing of the past. And the Bokero is hot-dip galvanised, providing enduring protection against the elements. |
